Electrical Vault Fire Prompts Evacuations In Pasadena

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A fire in an underground electrical vault in Pasadena Tuesday prompted evacuations and affected some traffic signals, but no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported about 10:45 a.m. in the 900 block of North Lake Avenue, Pasadena Fire spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.

No active flames were seen by firefighters, who were standing by as a precaution while electrical crews worked to handle the problem.

All evacuations were lifted by about 1:15 p.m., and most of the electrical service was restored by that time.

Crews this afternoon continued their efforts to completely restore power, fire officials said.
