East Coast Fave Shake Shack Offers LA Preview Ahead Of WeHo Opening
MID-CITY (CBSLA.com) — An East Coast favorite offered Angelenos a preview Monday night ahead of its much-anticipated opening in West Hollywood.
Shake Shack, a New York City chain, hosted a preview party, and the line for a taste of the popular burgers went around the block in the Mid-City area.
Steven Flores waited two hours but said it was worth the wait.
"The sauce. The burger. The water. Swag. It was good," he said.
Shake Shack's culinary director, Mark Rosati, knows there is some steep competition in Los Angeles, which has long had a love affair with the burger.
"California is the like the cradle of all the great hamburger culture from all over the world, especially going back to the 1950s and for us to finally come out here and be part of it, we couldn't be more excited," said Rosati.
Monday night, there were many first timers and also those who have tried it before and can't wait to be living closer to a Shake Shack.
"I'm excited," said one patron. "My weight is not excited."
Shake Shack is expected to open in a couple of months in West Hollywood.
