Driver Sought In Fatal Northridge Hit-And-Run

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday were looking for a felony hit-and-run suspect that left a 24-year-old driver dead.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Balboa Boulevard and Parthenia Street in Northridge, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Witness say the driver of a Ford Escort, Robert Ramage, was heading south on Balboa when the driver of pickup, traveling westboud on Parthenia, slammed into it.

Ramage, a veterinary student from Northridge who was on his way home from work, was ejected from the vehicle and later died at Northridge Hospital.

"I'm in shock. I'm upset. He was highly intelligent, a hard worker,"Ramage's boss, William O'Leary, said. "He was going to make a great veterinarian."

The pickup driver and two passengers were seen fleeing on foot.

"We are actively looking for that driver," Det. William Bustos said.

A suspect description was not released.
