Bryan Grayley, 66, was behind the wheel of a 2017 Subaru Outback that rear-ended a 1995 GMC Yukon, which went off the side of Willow Street and into the Coyote Creek flood control channel, according to Long Beach police. The Subaru was found in the eastbound lanes of Willow Street, and the Yukon was overturned in the channel, following the 6:20 p.m. crash.

Both drivers were taken to a hospital, where the driver of the Yukon, a 53-year-old Compton man, was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.

Police say both vehicles were driving eastbound on Willow Street at a high rate of speed when the Subaru hit the Yukon from behind. Both speed and impairment are believed to be factors in the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash can contact Long Beach Detective Kevin -Johansen at (562) 570-7355.
