Driver Identified In Fatal Crash Near Malibu Canyon

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — The Coroner's office released the identity of a 22-year-old man on Monday, who was killed when his vehicle careened off the side of an embankment.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were sent around 11:25 a.m. Sunday to the 25000 block of Piuma Road for report of a traffic collision.

Once on scene, officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics extracted Wing Hay Tang, of Foster City, from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Tang traveled westbound on Piuma Road in his 1998 Porsche at a high rate of speed.

He lost control of the vehicle about two miles east of Las Virgenes Road, and crossed over into the eastbound lane of traffic.

Officers explained Tang was unable to regain control of the vehicle before it fell down a steep embankment, and landed on it's roof about 100 feet from the road.

Several friends, who traveled in separate vehicles from Tang, stopped at the scene and immediately called 911.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
