Driver Arrested In Valentine's Day Crash That Killed Valencia College Student

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — A man has been arrested in connection with a Valentine's Day traffic accident that killed a college student, authorities said.

Alex Chad Corral, 27, of Canyon Country was arrested Tuesday in the accident that occurred about 3:50 p.m. Feb. 14 on Copperhill Drive and killed Dylan Tyler Zimmerman, investigators said.

After an investigation that examined possible driver intoxication and vehicle speeds, Corral was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

Zimmerman was a Valencia High School graduate and student at College of the Canyons. He worked at Best Buy as a member of the store's Geek Squad.

Sheriff's Department investigators said Corral had a 9-year-old girl in his vehicle at the time of the accident. The relationship between him and the girl is unclear.

Corral was held on $1.1 million bail.
