2 Dead On Downed Plane Found In Remote Area Of Big Bear Mountain

BIG BEAR LAKE (CBSLA.com) — An investigation is underway after authorities say a Cessna that went down Saturday  was located in a remote area of Big Bear Mountain.

The plane was located around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Two people were found dead inside the wreckage.

One victim -- the pilot -- was identified as 28-year-old Rebecca Joan Raymond.

An adult male -- the passenger -- was also found. His name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Raymond was a San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Barstow Sheriff's Station.

Saturday night, around 10: 30,  deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department were asked to respond to the Apple Valley Airport in search of a plane that was overdue from Big Bear.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
