Dodgers To Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Dodgers will celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month beginning on September 15th running all the way through October 15th.

Wednesday is Mexican Independence Day and the Dodgers will be giving out  a Fernando Valenzuela bobblehead to the first 40,000 fans in attendance for the team's game against the Rockies starting at 7:10 pm.

All fans are invited to arrive early however, to see a special musical performance by Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cueller, which begins at approximately 6:40 pm.

The national anthem of Mexico will also be sung at Wednesday's game by "Jane the Virgin" star and singer Jaime Camil, who is a native of Mexico City.

Members of Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela's family will be at the game in order to start the game with Vin Scully's famous saying, "It's Time for Dodger Baseball!"

Wednesday is also Roberto Clemente day across the MLB, and the Dodgers will celebrate by recognizing Adrian Gonzalez as their 2015 nominee for the coveted Roberto Clemente Award.

Each year, the award is given to the player who best represents the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement, and positive contributions on and off the field.

Through September, music played inside Dodger Stadium will incorporate songs representative of the current Latino members of the Dodgers.

Music from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Valenzuela will all be played over the next month at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers will also be bringing fans live music in the right and left field plaza's during weekend games, during the period between Sept 15 and Oct 15.

The team is also offering fans 20$ off Dodger Player T-Shirts of Yasiel Puig and Adrian Gonzalez for the rest of the season, available at the team store at the Top of the Park.

Sunday, September 20 (1:10 p.m. vs. PIT), and the Dodgers 18th annual Hispanic Heritage celebration, La Gran Fiesta Viva Los Dodgers presented by Coca-Cola, State Farm and Time Warner Cable

Saturday, October 3 (6:10 p.m. vs. SD). La Gran Fiesta Viva Los Dodgers is the culmination of the season-long series of family-friendly events celebrating Latino culture in Los Angeles and the legacy of Latino Dodgers past and present.
