Dodgers Complete 3-Team Trade With Reds, White Sox

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a three-team trade on Wednesday with the Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds sent All-Star third baseman Todd Frazier to the White Sox.

The White Sox sent OF Trayce Thompson, P Frankie Montas, and 2B Micah Johnson to the Dodgers in the trade, while the Dodgers parted ways with INF Jose Peraza and OF Scott Schebler in the trade, who both go to the Reds.

Thompson, 24, saw his first big league action last season with the White Sox, batting .295 with five home runs and 16 RBI in 44 games.

Thompson, who attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, has been selected as an All-Star at nearly every level during his seven-year minor league career, being honored as a 2011 Single-A South Atlantic League All-Star, a 2013 and 2014 Double-A Southern League All-Star and a 2015 Triple-A International League All-Star, while batting a combined .241 with 94 steals, 101 home runs and 395 RBI in 734 games.

The son of former NBA player Mychal Thompson and brother of Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, was originally selected by the White Sox in the second round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft.

The reigning Home Run Derby champion, Frazier has batted a combined .264/.322/.479 with 64 home runs over the past two seasons with the Reds.

Peraza made his MLB debut for the Dodgers in this past season, collecting four hits in 22 September at-bats.

Montas and Thompson were both considered two of the White Sox top prospects.

This move is potentially setting up a bigger trade for the Dodgers, in which they have been rumored to be targeting Marlins ace Jose Fernandez.
