Disneyland Rolls Out Its Own Wait-Time App

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — After a slew of unofficial apps came out listing wait times for rides at Disneyland and California Adventure, Disney has released its own app.

It became available recently for Android phones on Google Play and for iPhones on the iTunes App Store.

On crowded days, visitors hoping to catch the most popular attractions have to endure long wait times, often while standing under the intense Southern California sun.

For years now, Disneyland has listed the wait-times at the entrance for each ride, which meant park-goers didn't know what to expect until they walked there.

This new app allows visitors to be more savvy while planning their day.

Reviewers on iTunes gave the app four-and-a-half out of five stars. It received just shy of the same rating on Google Play.

iTunes user RCRich97 wrote:

"The app is actually pretty useful and relatively intuitive, but I gave it 3 stars because it's missing a few things that would make it a near one stop experience. One, it lacks Fastpass return times, so you still need a third-party app for that. Two, you can't make dining reservations, so you have to visit Disney's mobile site to do so.

"Being able to link your annual pass is great, but it's only for entry, not for discounts at retail locations or restaurants.

"Still, wait times, character meet and greet locations and times, and restroom locations make this a great app for parents and those less familiar with the parks."

User JCarlos Murillo gave the Disneyland app five stars: "There's much to do here in order to get to the level of MDX (My Disney Experience), but for now, I'm happy to have this app. Can't wait to go to the parks and put it to good use."

Another good way to make the most of your time at Disneyland and California Adventure is to get a FASTPASS®. It's a ticket offered for the most heavily-trafficked attractions. A station near the ride entrance issues a FASTPASS® that allows you to skip the line by coming back at a later time.

The theme parks are also making headlines when the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that The Walt Disney Co. had bought nearly 15 acres of land near its Anaheim resort, citing ThemeParkInsider.com. The news has many wondering whether Disney has plans to expand the park.
