Disbarred Attorney Admits To Stealing $3M From Clients, MTA

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A disbarred attorney has pleaded no contest to stealing more than $3 million from his clients, including the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The district attorney's office says James Reiss entered the plea Tuesday to grand theft. He'll be sentenced later this month to 10 years in state prison and ordered to pay restitution to three victims.

Prosecutors say Reiss received nearly $2 million in fraudulent reimbursements from the MTA while handling liability claims for the agency between 2010 and 2011.
