Deputies investigate deadly Paramount roadway shooting

The Somerset Blvd. overpass of the 710 Freeway was closed for several hours Monday morning in Paramount as homicide detectives investigated a deadly shooting.

Around 4:11 a.m. Monday, sheriff's deputies responded on the bridge to shots fired and found a man's body, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. The overpass reopened to traffic sometime around 10:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the man as Juan Garcia, 43. No arrests were reported.

Despite earlier reports that Garcia was homeless, family members have told KCAL News that was not true.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting death is asked to call the sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
