Deputy Performs CPR To Save 7-Month-Old Child's Life In La Puente

LA PUENTE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities acknowledged the actions of an Industry Station deputy Monday who saved a 7-month-old child's life in the City of La Puente.

Around 6 p.m. on Nov. 16, deputies received a 911 call from a frantic mother who reported her baby was not breathing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The mother went on to explain she pulled to the side of the road at Hacienda Boulevard located north of Temple Avenue after looking in the back seat of her vehicle to find her child was unresponsive.

Officials said Deputy Nava was patrolling in the area and received the call after it was dispatched.

"Deputy Nava sprang into action and began life saving procedures," said Sgt. Bob Boese.

Fire department personnel and the child's physician have credited Nava to saving the child's life.
