Deputies Search For Man Suspected Of Trying To Kidnap 2 Girls In East LA Park

EAST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Deputies are hoping a composite drawing circulated Wednesday will lead to the arrest of a tattooed man who allegedly accosted two sisters in East Los Angeles' Salazar Park.

Deputies initially received a 911 call about 2:45 p.m. Saturday. When the deputies arrived, they learned that two girls were walking toward the water fountain near the restroom when the older sister saw her younger brother talking to the suspect, authorities said.

She asked him why he was talking to the suspect, who then grabbed her young sister. The older sister grabbed her younger sister and the suspect then tried to pull the older sister toward the bathroom, according to authorities.

She punched him a number of times and he fled.

The older sister approached her mother, who managed to confront the suspect near the men's restroom.

"I was just trying to stop him. Trying to get people to stop him," the mother, Grace Martinez said.

She alerted county Department Park and Recreation staff and followed him to Whittier Boulevard, where he disappeared.

Martinez supplied authorities with information that they used to create a sketch of the suspect.

The suspect was described as a Latino in his 30s, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. He sported a moustache and goatee and had a tattoo of a dragon wrapped around his right arm.

Anyone with information about the suspect was asked to call sheriff's deputies at (909) 394-9705.
