Deputies Search For 2 Gunmen Who Killed Mother Of 3 Inside Her South LA Home
WESTMONT (CBSLA.com) — Deputies are searching for two men who they say opened fire on a couple, killing a woman in front of her husband inside their Westmont home.
The woman was shot just after midnight Saturday in the 1400 block of West 104th Street, east of Inglewood, according to sheriff's Deputy Graciela Medrano.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman, a mother of three -- two boys and a girl ages 8, 10 and 16 -- was identified as Tynisa Guyton.
Investigators say Guyton and her husband were inside their home when a dark-colored sedan pulled up. Two men got out and opened fire.
Guyton died at the scene. The husband was not hurt.
The killers escaped and there was no specific information available to identify them.
CBS2's Art Barron spoke with the woman's devastated husband who didn't want to appear on camera.
He told Barron he and his wife had just returned home from the movies.
"She was loved by her friends, she was loved by everyone," said the husband. "She's going to be deeply missed by me, and my kids, you know."
Relatives and friends told Barron the area has a lot of gang activity and believe the shooting was a case of mistaken identity.
"This is a young mother of three," said LA County Sheriff's Sgt. Ken Perry. "She's a working lady, not doing anything wrong. Somebody killed her, and we need to know who that is."
Barron also spoke to a neighbor who heard the shots.
"I was getting my bed ready," said Marina Richard , "and all of a sudden, I bend down and hear 'Pop, pop, pop.' My mom woke up out of her sleep and said, 'That has to be a gunshot.'"
The victim's husband said Saturday was his birthday as well as the birthday of the couple's daughter.
"That's not adding on to the situation, you know," he said to Barron.
