Verdict To Be Read In Deadly Stabbing Trial

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Jurors are expected to read a verdict Monday in the trial of a 23-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a 12-year-old "tagging crew" rival five years ago.

The verdict will be read at 9 a.m., according to the district attorney's office.

If convicted as charged, Bryan Ocampo, of Anaheim, faces up to 26 years to life in prison.

Ocampo is accused of fatally stabbing Juan Martinez Jr. on June 15, 2011, outside Sycamore Junior High School.

At the time, Ocampo was 18 years old. He stood five inches taller and weighed 65 more pounds than Martinez.

According to prosecutors, Martinez died of a stab wound to his chest, which punctured his lung and heart.
