Crews rescue person trapped in their vehicle after colliding with a train in Pasadena

A car and a Metro A Line train collided this morning in Pasadena, leaving the motorist with moderate injuries and the train operator with minor injuries.

Around 9:18 a.m. rescue crews responded to the collision at S Raymond Ave. and E. California Blvd. in Pasadena to help a woman trapped in her vehicle following the crash.

A mangled Toyota Camry was pushed onto the sidewalk after colliding with the Metro train, and a broken, smashed-up gate arm was also on the sidewalk at the crash site.

Pasadena police and fire checked on all of the passengers aboard the train and Pasadena officials said that nobody on the train was injured.

The driver was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries and the intersection at S Raymond Avenue and E. California Blvd.was closed as an investigation was conducted. Tracks were also closed in the area for the police investigation, so buses were used to carry passengers to nearby stations. 

A Metro spokesperson said around noon, trains began running through the area again, but were sharing a single track in both directions, leading to approximately 20-minute delays, 

Around 2:30 p.m. train service was restored, with both tracks in operation.
