Crews Knock Down Blaze At Apartment Building Carport In Northridge

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters knocked down a blaze Saturday night at an apartment building in Northridge.

Crews were called at 8:36 p.m. to a fire destroying a carport behind a two-story building at 18355 Malden Street, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Katherine Main said.

The flames spread to an upstairs apartment and to the attic, Main said.

Forty-one firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in 19 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

A damage estimate was not available.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
