Crews Contain Electrical Fire In Kern County Mobile Home

KERN COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — Crews investigated the cause of a fire Friday that broke out in a mobile home in Rosamond last night.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, crews were sent around 9:01 p.m. Thursday to the 2400 block of Sierra Highway for report of heavy smoke and flames located in a single-wide mobile home.

Once on scene, about firefighters located smoke and flames coming through a bedroom window.

They forced entry through the front door of the home, and conducted a primary search, before extinguishing flames, which were contained to the bedroom.

About 10 firefighters were able to contain the flames in 20 minutes.

Crews reported that no one was home at the time the fire erupted, however, the flames threatened other mobile homes located nearby.

No injuries to crews were reported.

Authorities ruled the cause of the fire to be electrical, due to a malfunction in a sub panel of the home.

Crews estimated fire damage to cost $25,000 to the property.
