Crews Contain 50 Percent Of Sterling Fire In San Bernardino
DEL ROSA (CBSLA.com) — Fire crews are gaining ground on the Sterling Fire in the Del Rosa area of San Bernardino.
Flames ignited around 6:30 p.m. Thursday on Sterling Avenue near East Foothill Drive, east of the 215 Freeway.
Firefighters suspect the blaze may have been sparked by fireworks.
As of 6 a.m. Friday, the wildfire had scorched 100 acres and was 50 percent contained.
The fire is moving in a northeasterly direction, away from homes.
More than 100 firefighters were on scene Friday morning. They will continue to contend with the heat and windy conditions that proved challenging Thursday.
