Family's Home Damaged In Chino Fire

CHINO (CBSLA.com) — A family's home was damaged Friday in a blaze officials suspect erupted when an ember from a nearby grass fire was blown onto the residence.

Ontario Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene at Roswell and Walnut avenues at approximately 1:20 p.m.

A department spokesperson confirmed one structure was on fire around 2:20 p.m.

"It looks like it might have been an ember from the nearby vegetation fire, however, a full investigation still needs to be completed," Chino Valley Public Information Officer Massiel DeGuevara said.

No one was home when the blaze erupted. However, firefighters say they did rescue a dog from the residence, as well as some belongings.

It is unclear if the family will be able to move back into the home.
