Crews Battle Blaze At Roosevelt Middle School In Compton
COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Fire crews Wednesday were battling a blaze in the girls' gym area of Roosevelt Middle School.
Heavy smoke could be seen billowing from the fire, which started around 1:25 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Alondra Boulevard, according to the Compton Fire Department.
Classes were dismissed early, so there was no need to evacuate students or staff. However, a 99 Cents Only store across the street was evacuated.
County firefighters were assisting the Compton Fire Department.
All after-school activities were cancelled.
No injuries were reported.
