Couple Who Gave Missing OC Woman A Ride Home Identified

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com)  — The couple who was believed to have given a woman a ride home the night she went missing was located early Friday morning, officials confirmed.

The man and the woman who reportedly drove Erica Alonso and her boyfriend home from the Sutra Lounge in Costa Mesa in the early morning hours of Feb. 15 reached out to detectives around 1:30 a.m. Friday after seeing their picture on the news, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department Lt. Jeff Hallock.

Alonso, 27, and her 45-year-old on-and-off-and-on again boyfriend were reportedly offered a ride around 1:30 a.m. to his home near Culver Drive and Deerfield Avenue in Irvine in the couple's red Scion FRS.

The couple then allegedly left the residence around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, and about 10 to 15 minutes later, Alonso's boyfriend told detectives the two had a fight and she stormed out.

Alonso and her vehicle have not been seen since.

"We just want her home. We miss her so much," Alonso's sister Patricia said.

She was described at Latina, 5 foot 3 inches tall, weighing 110 pounds, with long brown hair and brown eyes. She drives a white 2014 Honda Civic EX with California license plate number 7FSS563.

CBS2's Michele Gile spoke to a neighbor who says Alonso and her boyfriend have a rocky relationship. The woman, who did not want to be identified, said the couple had a fight recently that was so bad she called police.

"I've seen them argue to the point that I had to call the cops on them," the woman said. "It's very severe. I've also seen them have a lot of fun [together] at the same time. I've seen both sides of this relationship."

Recently, the neighbor said she witnessed a fight that alarmed her.

"One day, when they were out in the street, it looked abusive. It looked like something bad was going on. I called the police. When I looked out the window, he looked perfectly fine. I really can't say what happened that night but I remember hearing a lot of screaming."

Irvine Police confirmed that they were called to an address on Wintergreen on November 2, 2014 and that Alonso was taken into custody for suspicion of domestic violence. The neighbor said she thought that Alonso was intoxicated.

Authorities said Alonso's boyfriend has been cooperative and helpful with information.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department at (714) 647-7055.
