INDUSTRY (CBSLA.com) — The Coroner's Office has identified the two people killed Saturday when a car flew off the 60 Freeway in the City of Industry.
Baldwin Park resident Reinoso Rafael Flores, 49, and Ontario resident Michelle Alvarez, 23, were killed in the crash on the eastbound roadway, at its interchange with the 605 Freeway, Coroner's Lt. Fred Corral said Sunday.
Two others were injured in the incident, which occurred at 2:43 a.m., when motorist Diego Martinez, 24, of Ontario, lost control of his 2006 Toyota Scion TC, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators say the vehicle swerved across all lanes, flew off the roadway and then a tree.
Paramedics were dispatched at 3:08 a.m. Flores and Alvarez were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two others, including Martinez, were hospitalized with "traumatic" injuries, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher. The other injured party was a 45-year-old woman, also from Ontario, according to the CHP.
