Convicted Killer Charged With 1986 Orange County Killing

SANTA ANA (AP) — A man serving a possible life sentence for a Florida murder has been charged with killing a 79-year-old Orange County man nearly three decades ago.

City News Service says Steven White was charged Wednesday with the murder of Cedric Horn. The Santa Ana man went missing in March 1986 after leaving for a business trip to Northern California. His body was never found.

However, the next month, Horn's car was found in Houston with his blood in it.

Prosecutors contend that White befriended Horn in order to steal from him. They say White tried to spend a $60,000 check drawn on Horn's account after the man vanished.

White, who's 65, is serving 25 years to life in Florida for a 1987 murder.

He's awaiting extradition to face the Orange County charge.
