Fire Causes $1.8M In Damage To Hollywood Business
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A fire caused approximately $1.8 million to a chrome-plating facility in Hollywood Sunday.
It took more than 130 firefighters two hours to extinguished the fire at Highland Plating Company, located at 1001 N. Orange Avenue, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
When firefighters arrived at the scene around 9 a.m., the found "thick black smoke and fire billowing" from the building.
The building's roof partially collapsed, but no firefighters were injured. One firefighter fell ill and was sent to the hospital, but was listed in good condition, according to officials.
Crews were able to save the business' office and its contents.
"Firefighters remained on scene for over 24 hours to address flair ups and douse hot spots," spokeswoman Katherine Main said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation by the LAFD Arson Section.
