Coldplay's Chris Martin Wears Yellow Band During Halftime In Honor Of SoCal Teen
CALABASAS (CBSLA.com) — It was an emotional moment as two Calabasas parents watched Chris Martin from Coldplay light up the stage during the Super Bowl halftime show.
That's because Martin was wearing a yellow bracelet and yellow band on his shirt.
Kevin and Melodie Cordasco of Calabasas started "Something Yellow" after their son died of a rare cancer.
"The jacket came off and it was exactly where he said it would be," said Cordasco of Martin.
During Kevin Jr.'s fight, Coldplay and their song "Yellow" were his favorite.
Martin even met him in the hospital, but no one knew their friendship would continue to blossom.
"Kevin's spirit is a river. It's not us. We're just carrying out his wishes," Cordasco said.
In 2014, after Kevin's death, the band dedicated their album Ghost Stories to him.
It was Kevin's mission even at his young age while battling the disease to raise awareness for childhood cancer.
Coldplay on Sunday helped carry on that mission.
"Right now, Kevin's smiling. I know. I know he was here today," Cordasco said.
