CHP Chases Suspect In Stolen Pickup Possibly Containing Children

UPLAND (CBSLA.com) —  The CHP chased a female driver in a pickup Friday on the 10 Freeway to the 605 and pulled her out of the vehicle in a Whittier neighborhood.

Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky9, said the chase began in Hesperia.

The reports said the driver had children in the car.  The three children were reportedly dropped off at a restaurant before the chase began.

The CHP confirmed to CBS2/KCAL9 that the suspect stole the pickup, believed to be a Ford dually.

"The large truck has been flying," Mundel reported.

The suspect is believed to be an adult female. The children were reportedly dropped off by a woman.

The chase continued westbound with the driver going 90-95 mph, Mundel reported.

He also reported the driver was making a series of dangerous lane changes.

After the suspect transferred to the 605 Freeway, she went southbound and tailgated several vehicles at high speeds.

The chase lasting about 40 minutes ended in Whittier with officers storming the vehicle after it got wedged between two vehicles on a residential street.

Officers had guns drawn and ordered the driver out.
