Chino Man Arrested In Connection With Deadly OC Shooting

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday announced the arrest of a 32-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Orange County.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, David Steven Ortega, of Chino, was arrested near his home on Tuesday.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to the intersection of Poona Drive and Lullaby Lane for report of a shooting that had just occurred.

Upon their arrival, authorities located two adult men inside of a Ford SUV that was parked in the intersection.

Paramedics transported both men for treatment of gunshot wounds sustained to their upper body area.

David Douglas, 51, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, deputies said.

A preliminary investigation revealed a group of taggers opened fire on Douglas and the other victim after they were confronted for spray painting in the street.

Further investigation subsequently led to Ortega's arrest.

Ortega is being held without bail at the Orange County Jail for murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing.
