Charred Body Found Inside Car That Tumbled Down Cliff

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Crews responding to a smoky brush fire in the Angeles National Forest discovered a charred body inside a car that had tumbled some 800 feet down a cliff.

The California Highway Patrol says the single-vehicle crash happened Sunday afternoon on the winding Angeles Crest Highway north of downtown LA. The brush fire was quickly doused.

The CHP is working Monday with sheriff's officials and the U.S. Forest Service to retrieve the body.

The body is so badly burned the coroner's office says DNA testing is required to identify it.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
