Chargers Release RB Donald Brown

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The San Diego Chargers have released running back Donald Brown after over a season with the team.

Brown has not seen any action this season for the Chargers, but played in 13 games during the 2014 season for Chargers.

Brown had 85 rushing attempts and 223 yards for the Chargers in 2014, averaging an abysmal 2.6 yards per carry.

Brown is in his 7th season out of the University of Connecticut, after being selected 27th overall in the 1st round by the Indianapolis Colts.

Rookie RB Melvin Gordon has played well for the Chargers this season, rushing for 190 yards in the first three games.

Brown was released in order to make room for offensive lineman Michael Ola, who was promoted from the practice squad on Saturday.
