Caught On Video: Pair Accused Of Shoplifting Scrap With Store Employees

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Two customers accused of shoplifting who store managers say tried to fight their way out of a Stater Bros. market in San Bernardino didn't get far. And the whole thing was caught on video.

Stater Bros. says it started when the two tried to steal items from the store but were confronted by employees and security.

Stater Brothers says: "While one suspect was removing the unpaid merchandise from her bag, the other suspect struck our female employee in the face with a closed fist and then grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the ground."

As employees were finally able to break the staffer free, she appeared to take a few swipes at the shoplifting suspect as she's pulled away.

The witness who shot a video said store employees were too aggressive, but Stater Bros. maintains they were only trying to protect the safety of the staff and customers and that the two accused of shoplifting instigated the fight.
