Caught On Camera: Good Samaritans Rescue Motorcyclist Wedged Under A Truck, Being Dragged

CORONA (CBSLA.com)  — A video that has gone viral shows a motorcyclist wedged under a truck in Corona and being helped by some Good Samaritans who come to his rescue.

The incident happened Friday on the 91 Freeway near the Green River Road interchange.

CBS2/KCAL9's Adrianna Weingold tracked down the man who shot the video.

"I walk up to the guy, I put one knee down, I can see he's kind of groggy everybody gets out, we're trying to figure out how to help him out, do we lift the car up, do we get jacks?," says Byron Holeman, one of many who came to aid the cyclist.

He says he was in traffic on his way home when he spotted the motorcyclist stuck under the truck and being dragged along the way.

"I see this F-50 pickup truck and it looks like there's a bumper underneath his car it was kind of flapping and as I got closer to it I realized it was a human body, I could see a foot," said Holeman.

That's when complete strangers took action, jacking the truck up off the motorcyclist who was clearly terrified, screaming for his life as the rescue continued.

Holeman says an off duty firefighter paramedic was one of the people who jumped in to help.

"It was a pretty high anxiety moment, I've never seen anything like that before," he said.

Holeman says they managed to get the man out from under the truck before the ambulance arrived.

It's still unclear how the motorcyclist ended up under the truck.

The good news, Weingold reports, fire officials say he only suffered minor injuries.

KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo later spoke to Chino Valley Firefighter Andrew Hubbard, one of the Good Samaritans.

He just happened to be driving by the scene when he was on his way back to work.

"Someone waved me down," says Hubbard, "and said, yeah, someone is stuck under the car. So I got out and went over there, and sure enough, there was a motorcycle rider and he was stuck under the vehicle, it looked like under the axle, and the tire."
