Carson City Council To Vote On Proposed NFL Stadium Project

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — The Carson City Council will vote Tuesday on a proposed $1.7 billion NFL stadium project.

The city could decide at 6 p.m. meeting to either adopt the plan or schedule a public vote.

Carson2gether supporters will gather for a "Tailgate Party" at 5 p.m. ahead of the vote.

The stadium was proposed in February by the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders, who plan to share the privately-financed stadium off the 405 Freeway and Del Amo Boulevard if they do not strike a deal with their current hometowns.

The plan would include turning an 168-acre site into a 70,000-seat stadium with 18,000 parking spots.

A financial analysis said Monday that the stadium would need the two teams to call it home to be a steady money-maker.

Residents have also expressed concern for other issues including traffic and smell.

Executives from both teams are reportedly set to update NFL owners on the project in New York Wednesday.
