Car Crash Inadvertently Leads Riverside Sheriff's To Home Containing 2 Dead Men

LA QUINTA (CBSLA.com)   — Authorities said a car crash inadvertently led them to a home in La Quinta where they found two men dead in a case of domestic homicide.

Deputies were called to a vehicle crash in the 47200 block of Washington Street about 3:15 p.m. and while checking the area found a suspicious vehicle -- unrelated to the crash -- near the 46600 block of Washington Street, said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Jim Erickson.

The deputies found a woman at the wheel, but she was unresponsive and showed signs of injury, he said.

After forcing their way into the vehicle, they provided medical assistance to the woman. She was taken to a nearby hospital.

The woman had last been seen at a family meeting at a home near the 51000 block of Avenida Carranza, he said.

Investigators went to the home and found two males dead, Erickson said.

"Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit believe the female driver and the two deceased males at the location are related," he said. "This case is currently being investigated as a domestic homicide."

No suspects are believed to be outstanding. The injured woman was hospitalized in critical but stable condition, Erickson said.

The investigation is on-going.

Erickson said the names of the woman and the deceased males were being withheld.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to contact Investigator Loureiro at the Central Homicide Unit at (760) 393-3524.
