Camarillo Man Arrested In Connection With Deadly Stabbing Of Teen In Taco Bell Parking Lot

CAMARILLO (CBSLA.com) — A 20-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing a teenager in a Taco Bell parking lot has been arrested, deputies said on Tuesday.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Tyler James Ostertag, of Camarillo, was taken into custody at a motel in Riverside on suspicion of murder.

Around 5 p.m. on Monday, deputies were sent to the parking lot of Taco Bell, located in the 1500 block of Flynn Road, for report of an altercation between two groups.

Both groups of males dispersed from the area upon seeing authorities arrive at the scene.

Deputies learned a 16-year-old victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of stab wounds sustained in the altercation.

According to hospital officials, the victim succumbed to his injuries early this morning. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Leads obtained during a preliminary investigation identified Ostertag as the suspect in the case.

He is being held on $1 million at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.

It was not immediately clear when Ostertag has been scheduled to appear in court.

At this time, authorities do no believe the incident was gang-related.

The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
