Calif. Assembly Approves Beer And Wine At Hair Salons

SACRAMENTO (AP) — The California Assembly has approved legislation that would make it legal for hair salons and barbershops to offer customers free beer and wine.

Assemblyman Tom Daly, a Democrat from Anaheim, says many salons already offer drinks while customers are having their hair styled, but it is technically illegal.

His bill, AB1322, authorizes the salons to offer beer and wine without charge, as limousines and hot air balloon operators are allowed to do.

The Assembly approved it on a 71-0 vote Thursday, sending it to the Senate.
