Burglary Suspect Caught On Video Stealing Cash, Personal Checks From La Cañada-Flintridge Church

LA CAÑADA-FLINTRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Wednesday sought the public's help in identifying a man suspected of stealing cash and other items from a Crescenta Valley church.

The suspect - described as a black male - broke into an unnamed local church on May 27 around 4:40 p.m. and stole a cashbox, U.S. currency and an envelope containing numerous personal checks, according to Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station detectives.

Authorities say the suspect was also caught on surveillance video committing two burglaries in an adjacent parking lot, where he gained entry by throwing rocks at vehicle windows.

He made off with a diabetic kit, prescription glasses, car key to a Jaguar, photo copies of a Visa card, wallet, license, credit cards, and a cell phone, which was later found in the backyard of a nearby home, according to investigators.

The suspect was described as a bald black man approximately 5'10" in height and about 230 to 250 pounds, and was seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, blue shoes, and black square-rimmed glasses.

He is believed to be driving a mid-2000s white four-door Chevy Malibu.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station at (818) 236-4014.
