Buena Park police shoot and kill allegedly armed man walking in lanes of 5 Freeway

Buena Park police shot and killed a man on Tuesday afternoon. 

It happened at around 1 p.m. when officers were dispatched to the I-5 Freeway and Artesia Boulevard in order to assist California Highway Patrol with reports of a man who was walking in lanes of the freeway, according to a release from the Buena Park Police Department. 

They said that the man was possibly armed with a weapon, though they did not disclose any further inforamtion. 

"Officers located the male adult on Artesia Boulevard which led to an officer involved shooting," their statement said. "The male adult was injured, treated on scene and transported to UCI Hospital where unfortunately, he passed due to his injuries."

The man has not yet been identified. 

Both BPPD and the California Department of Justice are investigating the shooting. 

No other injuries were reported in the incident.
