Break-in under investigation at Hoka store on Abbott Kinney in Venice

Police are investigating a burglary at a high-end athletic shoe store in Venice early Wednesday.

The owner arrived at the Hoka store, 1600 Abbott Kinney Blvd., at about 4:15 a.m. and found the front door open and one of the panes in the glass door broken.

The thieves stole clothes from the store, but didn't take any of the shoes because there are no full pairs in the front of the stores. The other halves of each display shoe is locked up in the back, according to the manager.

Hoka shoes have become wildly popular, especially among runners, in recent years. Running shoes can sell anywhere from $125 to upwards of $200.

Wednesday's break-in is the second time the store has been burglarized in the last three months, and the LAPD says no other stores have been targeted in the area.
