Brea residents instructed to shelter-in-place after shooting in apartment complex

The Brea Police Department asked residents near the Raintree Apartment Complex to shelter-in-place after they received multiple calls of shooting in the building.

"Please remain indoors, avoid area and use alternate routes," the department tweeted. "If you see any suspicious activity, please call 911."

Two hours after the initial report, Brea officers said they responded to multiple calls about shots being fired inside an apartment complex at 650 N. Tamarack Avenue. They discovered a dead victim upon arrival.

"There does not appear to be a danger to area residents, and an investigation is ongoing," the department tweeted.
