Investigation underway after body found inside burning motorhome in Playa del Rey

Police say fatal motorhome fire likely unfortunate accident

Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was found inside of a burning motorhome in Play del Rey on Saturday. 

As Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters battled a vehicle fire, which was reported in the 13700 block of W. Jefferson Boulevard at around 11:20 a.m., they found the lifeless body of a man inside. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene, as crews determined he was "beyond medical help."

Due to the discovery of the body, firefighters called Los Angeles Police Department to the scene to assist with the investigation. 

Officers are investigating the incident as an "accidental death." They believe that the man was likely homeless.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
