Boat fire hospitalizes 3 people in Long Beach

Paramedics rushed three people to the hospital after their boat was engulfed in a small fire Friday night. 

The rescue operation started at about 7:10 p.m. in the marina close to 700 Queensway Dr.  The Long Beach Fire Department said the flames had taken over the boat once firefighters arrived. 

Firefighters rescued seven people from the vessel and surrounding water. Three of the patients required hospitalization while the four others declined transport. 

The fire was fully extinguished within the hour.
