BMX Fans Devastated As Southern California's Oldest Track Closes

ORANGE (CBSLA.com)  — It's an end of an era for a family tradition in Orange since Southern California's oldest BMX track will close on Sunday.

Young and old riders are devastated and say it's a big loss just as BMX is gaining traction as an Olympic sport.

The track manager says there are issues with the lease and he can't afford to stay.

"I don't know why, it's my home track," a young rider said. "I've been here since I've been 5."

One rider said he's confused since the park sits on landfill and believes that it can only be used for a bike park or a parking lot.

Riders will now have to go to nearby tracks in Bellflower or Perris.
