Bill Clinton Stumps For Wife Hillary With 2 Legendary Lakers By His Side
BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Former President Bill Clinton was in the Southland Sunday making the case that his wife Hillary should be the next President Clinton.
The former president stumped around Los Angeles with two special guests -- legendary Lakers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson.
CBS2's Adrianna Weingold talked to Clinton supporters who were happy to see Bill and pals up close and personal at a raucous rally in Boyle Heights.
Hillary supporters of all ages were out in full force, swarming the former president for the chance to shake his hand.
"We have a chance to build an inclusive society with immigration reform with equal pay for women and paid leave," he told the crowd.
Those were just a few of the ideas hundreds of Hillary supporters were excited to get behind. They're hoping Hillary takes California on Tuesday and the Oval Office come November.
"She's the most educated, prepared, highly qualified candidate by far," said Clinton supporter Yuriria Marvin.
Try telling that to the Bernie Sanders fans who crashed the rally.
But one thing that's consistent between Hillary and Bernie fans alike -- a large distaste for Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee.
"The American people are smart enough to vote for Hillary and not allow someone like Donald Trump to become our president, it's a scary thought [if he were to win]," said Clinton supporter Alan House.
Former President Clinton had some big shoes to fill (literally) after Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar got the crowd all hyped up. But Clinton did his best to dazzle the crowd. He was enthusiastic and eager to explain why his wife was the only real choice in November.
"I've known her for 43 years and she's the best change maker I've ever known," he said, "She's the only person you can vote for who has actually been able to persuade republicans to consistently vote for things that needed doing."
All of the politicians who attended the rally are also assuredly on team Hillary. They encouraged everyone to get out and vote on Tuesday.
