Tanker Truck Spills 75 Gallons Of Fuel After Rollover Crash On 110 Freeway Near Harbor City

HARBOR CITY (CBSLA) — A tanker truck veered off the 110 Freeway Thursday afternoon and rolled onto Vermont Avenue near Harbor City, sending two people to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the tanker truck was headed southbound on the freeway at about 4 p.m. when it was involved in some sort of collision with a sedan. Both drivers were taken to area hospitals in fair condition, according to LAFD.

The circumstances leading up to the collision were not immediately known.

The tanker truck leaked about 75 gallons of diesel fuel from its saddle tank, prompting a hazardous materials team to respond to the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which took over command of the incident.

A Sig Alert was issued for the southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway at Pacific Coast Highway for an unknown duration due to the accident.
