Big First Half Carries Hawaii Past Northridge, 84-73

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Stefan Jankovic scored 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting and hauled in seven rebounds to help Hawaii to an 84-73 win over Cal State Northridge on Thursday night.

Roderick Bobbitt added 12 points and dished out eight assists, while Aaron Valdes also had 12 points as Hawaii (15-7, 3-3 Big West) shot 54 percent from the floor on 54 attempts and never trailed.

Hawaii's Negus Webster-Chan hit a layup early in the first half that ignited a 14-2 run capped by Quincy Smith's jumper that made it 41-27 with 2:40 left before the break. The Rainbow Warriors took a 50-34 advantage into halftime, and held off Northridge over the final 20 minutes.

Stephen Maxwell led Northridge (6-16, 2-5) with 28 points and a career-high tying 17 rebounds. Aaron Parks added 21 points and Devonte Elliott had 10 for the Matadors, who held a 41-33 rebounding advantage but sank just one 3-pointer.
