Broken Water Main Knocks Out Power To Beverly Hilton
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A possible water-main break just east of Wilshire Boulevard has resulted in the closure of the eastbound lanes of Santa Monica Boulevard.
The break left the adjacent Beverly Hilton without power after a power vault shorted out. While the building was relying on reserve power, the majority of the Hilton was in dark.
The break was reported by Beverly Hills police and is said to have occurred about 9:10 p.m. Tuesday.
A similar water-main break caused extensive damage to a street in San Fernando Valley on Monday and resulted in numerous residents being without water services throughout the evening.
As of 9:30 p.m., the water was turned off, reducing potential damage to the immediate area.
