Beverly Hills Police Department Partially Evacuated Due To Bomb Threat
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA) — Nothing dangerous was discovered after a bomb threat forced the partial evacuation of the Beverly Hills Police Department for several hours Monday night.
According to the department, police were notified at about 8 p.m. of reports of a possible explosive threat in the area of Rexford Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard.
Police proceeded to partially evacuate the building as they checked the area for suspicious devices.
Police appeared to clear the scene at around 11:15 p.m. At around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, a police spokesperson confirmed to CBSLA that no threat was discovered and the building had been reopened. Police would not disclose whether the threat was made by phone, or whether it was delivered in a different way.
On Sunday, Beverly Hills police reported they had put the agency on high alert as they await the outcome of the Derek Chauvin trial in Minnesota.
Beverly Hills was hit hard by looters last summer following the killing of George Floyd. Some businesses this week were once again boarding up their windows and doors, while K-rails were ready to block off streets.
