Beverly Hills HS On Lockdown Following Report Of 'Man With A Gun' On Campus

BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Beverly Hills High School was put on lockdown Thursday afternoon following a report of a man with a gun on the campus.

The incident started at 3 p.m. when many students have already been dismissed.

By 4:15 p.m. KCAL9's Stu Mundel said police had investigated thoroughly -- including a classroom by classroom search -- and found nothing suspicious.

Officials told KNX 1070's Claudia Peschuitta that a male, claiming to be a 16-year-old, called police and claimed he was being held hostage inside the school.

In a statement, the BHPD said, "The incident at BHHS has concluded, and appears to have been a hoax."

The school is located at 241 Moreno Drive in Beverly Hills.

A SWAT team was also called to the scene.
